PEACH REPAIRS updates
Repairs had been an issue in Normandy Terrace for many years. There were rotting windows, leaking roofs, kitchens falling to pieces, bathrooms in complete disrepair, mould and damp were a major health hazard and broken flooring.
PEACH members and residents compiled a dossier of these problems and presented it to Councillor McAuley. We also invited him and members of the repairs team to come and see these problems for themselves. They duly took up our kind offer and spent a morning with us, making notes as they went along.
After a few emails, phone calls and a little bit of chasing up, we are pleased to say that there have been many improvements. New windows and baths have been fitted as have extractor fans. Floors and leaking roofs repaired.
We would like to place on record our thanks to Councillor McAuley and the repairs team for their efforts to deal with our issues and we look forward to the outstanding repairs being completed in the near future.
We think this is a model example of community groups and the council working together to improve housing conditions. Congratulations to everyone involved.
I will publish some before and after photo's soon.
